REPORT [L3-012-02] - GORGON'S GAZE PATROL [3rd Iteration]
DATE: 09-October-20**

the Pillars of Selene, classified under code L3-012, are anomalous tower structures found randomly scattered on the lunar surface, mainly on the far side of the Moon. These towers vary in height from 2.3 to over 5 kilometers in height, though their appearance remains consistent, starting with a wide base that tapers to the top.

Their existence was first noted by astronomer [REDACTED], in the year 19**, which led to the eventual decision by NASA -with consent and guidance of the Synod- to send a Lunar Lander near one of these clusters, while at the same time, sending Apollo [REDACTED] on a separate, widely-televised mission to divert the attention of the general public on Earth. (Refer to L3-012-04 for further details.)

The towers, upon closer inspection, exhibit a highly metallic sheen. Due to the inability of the designated patrol to procure samples, the exact composition of the exterior has yet to be determined. Instrument readings indicate the absence of ionizing radiation, deeming the structures safe for prolonged close investigation.

However, it has been noted that a strange "hum" emanates from these towers, resonating on the surrounding landscape with increasing intensity as one gets closer. This "hum" is believed to be the byproduct of an unknown "internal mechanism" from the towers. Analysis shows that the "hum" resonates at a frequency of between 430 and 540 hz.

It is theorized that the crew of the Apollo [REDACTED] heard this "hum" during their lunar surface flyby, which they described as "music", leading Mission Control to intervene and momentarily interrupt the live broadcast of their communications. Though this is mere speculation.

As of now, further technical analysis on these structures are pending due to the reluctance of Synod Hierarchs to authorize any use of destructive or invasive force on the exterior of these structures, for the fear of triggering an "undesirable event". Furthermore, the lack of any visible entrances or symbols/markings on the exteriors further complicate matters. However, seismic readings indicate that these structures are embedded far deep onto the lunar surface.
(Refer to ADDENDUM L3-012-03A for preliminary seismic analysis.)

This report is inconclusive and requires further update.

ADDENDUM [L3-012-02A]
MEMO FROM HQ

i. By order of the Supreme Conclave, further investigations on these structures are to be suspended in the mean time, in order to focus on other L3 anomalies on the lunar surface.

ii. What exactly is this "hum"? How is it that our patrol members can pick them up from their communication devices? Or even "hear" them without? We think that some of the men are hallucinating these sounds.

iii. If (ii) is proven to be true, then we must reassess whether this "hum" is truly harmless to our patrol members. We recommend employing dampeners and frequency filters for the meantime.

iv. Any attempts to record this hum as audio is strictly prohibited! We intercepted a correspondence between patrol members, contemplating of surreptitiously making profit from these recordings by selling them to 3rd party enthusiasts of Alternative Healing. Remind them again of clause 58-B, that any acts of leaking out mission data or materials of any kind to the general public is a serious offence that carries severe consequences.

v. Pertaining to (iv), tell these men that they will lose more than just their jobs! Need we remind them of what became of Staff 34K-0124?
